News Feed in Pebb: A Complete Guide to Company Updates, Posts, Polls, Comments, Acknowledgements, and Notifications

Learn how to use Pebb’s News Feed to share company updates, create posts, add polls, require acknowledgements, schedule announcements, send email and mobile notifications, manage comments, and keep every Space connected.

Pebb’s News Feed is where teams share updates, announcements, daily messages, polls, media, and important company information in one central place.

The News Feed works inside Spaces, which means every team, branch, department, or location can have its own dedicated feed. A company can have one News Feed for the New York store, another for the Boston branch, another for Housekeeping, another for Construction Site A, and another Space for Everyone across the company.

The News Feed is also available on the Pebb mobile app, so employees can read updates, acknowledge important posts, vote in polls, comment, react, and stay connected even when they do not work from a desk.

For frontline teams, this is one of the most important parts of Pebb. It gives managers a simple way to reach employees with updates that people can actually see, understand, and respond to.

What is the News Feed used for?

The News Feed is used to keep employees informed and connected.

Instead of sending updates through WhatsApp groups, emails, bulletin boards, or scattered chat messages, companies can publish updates in one shared feed where the whole Space can see them.

Teams use the News Feed for:

Company announcements
Daily updates
Branch updates
Operational changes
Important reminders
Team celebrations
Policy updates
Safety messages
Shift-related updates
New employee introductions
Store reopening news
Hotel occupancy updates
Restaurant menu changes
Construction site instructions
Polls and employee feedback
Posts that require acknowledgement
Photos, videos, files, and GIFs
Comments and team discussions

The News Feed helps create a place where employees do not just receive information — they can also react, ask questions, comment, vote, and confirm they read important updates.

News Feed lives inside Spaces

The News Feed is a Space feature.

This is important because it means every Space can have its own feed, members, permissions, and notification behavior.

A Space is a dedicated area in Pebb for a specific group of people. Spaces can be based on location, department, project, team, or purpose.

For example:

A retail company can create one Space for each store branch.

A restaurant group can create a Space for every restaurant location.

A hotel can create Spaces for Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, and Everyone.

A construction company can create a Space for each job site.

A warehouse can create Spaces for morning shift, night shift, inventory team, and operations.

The News Feed inside each Space keeps updates relevant. Employees in the New York store do not need to see every local update from Boston, unless they are part of that Space too.

At the same time, the company can use an Everyone Space for company-wide announcements that should reach all employees.

Main News Feed screen

The main News Feed screen shows the posts shared inside the selected Space.

At the top of the page, users can see the News Feed feature name and the Space feed content.

A typical feed includes:

Post composer
Feed name
Feed filters or quick actions
Posts
Important posts
Acknowledgement button
Reactions
Comments
Replies
Saved posts
Post menu
Comment box
Media and GIF options

Post composer

At the top of the News Feed, users can start a new post.

The composer field says:

“Share anything from big news to daily updates”

This is where employees or managers can begin writing a post.

The composer also includes quick media buttons, such as:

Image upload
Video upload
File attachment

These buttons make it easy to share rich updates, not just text.

For example, a restaurant manager can upload a photo of a new menu item. A construction supervisor can attach a safety document. A hotel manager can upload a short video explaining a new check-in process.

Space name

The feed shows the name of the Space feed.

For example:

Team Hub feed

This tells users which Space they are currently reading.

If your company has multiple Spaces, each Space can have its own feed.

Creating a post

Clicking the composer opens the Create Post window.

This is where users can write and format a post before publishing it.

The Create Post window includes:

Text editor
Emoji
Bold
Heading
Link
Image upload
Video upload
File attachment
GIF
Create Poll
Schedule Post
Set as important
Silent post
Submit Post
Close button

Text editor

The main writing area is where the post content is written.

Example:

“Quick update about our NY store — it may reopen as soon as next week, and we’re looking for new employees to join the team.

If you know someone who might be a good fit, please comment here.”

Posts can be short daily updates or longer announcements.

Good examples include:

“Reminder: team meeting tomorrow at 9 AM.”
“New uniforms arrived. Please pick yours up from the office.”
“The lobby entrance will be closed today for maintenance.”
“Great job this weekend — we handled record traffic.”
“Safety update for Site B: helmets are required at all times.”
“New lunch menu starts Monday. Please review before your shift.”

Emoji button

The emoji button lets users add emojis to the post.

This helps make internal updates feel more human and friendly.

For example:

“Welcome to the team 🎉”
“Great work this week 🙌”
“Reminder: safety training tomorrow ⚠️”

Bold

The B button lets users make text bold.

This is useful for highlighting important parts of a post.

Example:

Please arrive 15 minutes early tomorrow.

Heading

The H1 button lets users format text as a heading.

This is useful for longer announcements where the message needs structure.

Example:

New Store Opening Update

Then the post can explain what is happening below.

Link

The link icon lets users add a link to the post.

This is useful for sharing documents, external resources, policy pages, forms, schedules, maps, or company links.

Example:

“Please review the updated safety policy here.”

Image upload

The image icon lets users upload an image to the post.

Images are useful for:

Store displays
Hotel room setup examples
Restaurant menu photos
Construction site updates
Product photos
Event photos
Training visuals
Team celebrations

Video upload

The video icon lets users upload a video.

Videos are useful when a manager wants to explain something more clearly than text.

Examples:

A hotel manager records a quick front desk process update.

A restaurant chef records how to plate a new dish.

A construction supervisor records a safety reminder.

A retail manager records a walkthrough of a new display.

File attachment

The file icon lets users attach a document or file to the post.

This is useful for sharing:

Policies
Schedules
Training guides
PDFs
Checklists
Menus
Safety documents
HR forms
Operational instructions

GIF

The GIF button lets users add a GIF to the post.

This is useful for fun, casual, or culture-building posts.

For example:

Celebrating a team win
Welcoming a new employee
Sharing a birthday post
Making an update feel lighter

Polls in the News Feed

The News Feed supports polls.

Polls are useful when managers want feedback from employees or want the team to vote on something quickly.

In the screenshot, a post asks:

“What should our next team activity be?”

The options are:

Team lunch
Bowling night
Escape room
Outdoor hike

Employees can vote directly inside the feed.

Create Poll

The Create Poll button lets users add a poll to a post.

Polls can be used for:

Choosing team activities
Collecting lunch preferences
Voting on uniform options
Asking which training time works best
Choosing a staff event date
Getting feedback on new processes
Asking employees what they need help with
Checking interest in extra shifts
Choosing a charity or volunteer activity

Poll options

Poll options appear as large clickable buttons.

Employees can select the answer they prefer.

This makes polls simple on both web and mobile.

Votes are public

The poll can show whether votes are public.

In the screenshot, the poll says:

“Votes are public”

This means people can see how others voted.

This is useful when transparency is important. For more sensitive questions, companies may choose a different feedback method if they do not want public votes.

Important posts and acknowledgements

Pebb supports important posts that require acknowledgement.

This is one of the strongest parts of the News Feed for company communication.

When a post is marked as important, employees may be required to click Acknowledge to confirm they read it.

In the feed, the post shows an ACKNOWLEDGE button.

The post also shows:

“Acknowledged by 0 people”

This allows managers to see how many people have confirmed the update.

Set as important

In the Create Post window, the Set as important option marks the post as important.

Important posts are best used for updates that employees must not miss.

Examples:

Safety instructions
Policy updates
Emergency announcements
Schedule changes
New workplace rules
Branch reopening updates
Required training reminders
Payroll or HR notices
Hotel guest procedure changes
Restaurant health and safety updates
Construction site hazard warnings
Retail store opening or closing instructions

Acknowledge button

Employees click Acknowledge to confirm they read the post.

This is useful because managers do not need to guess whether people saw the update.

For example:

A construction supervisor posts a safety update and requires acknowledgement from everyone working on the site.

A hotel manager posts a new check-in policy and asks all front desk employees to acknowledge it.

A restaurant manager posts a new food safety rule and checks who has confirmed it.

A retail store manager posts a reopening update and tracks who read it.

Acknowledged by count

Important posts show how many people acknowledged them.

For example:

Acknowledged by 0 people

This gives managers a quick view of whether the message reached the team.

Scheduled posts

The News Feed supports scheduled posts.

Schedule Post

The Schedule Post option lets users prepare a post now and publish it later.

This is useful for announcements that should go out at a specific time.

Examples:

A hotel schedules a morning briefing post at 7 AM.

A restaurant schedules a weekend menu update before Friday dinner.

A retail manager schedules a sale announcement before store opening.

A construction manager schedules a safety reminder for Monday morning.

An HR manager schedules a holiday policy reminder before the end of the month.

Scheduled posts help managers plan communication ahead of time instead of remembering to post manually.

Silent posts

The News Feed supports silent posts.

Silent post

The Silent post option lets users publish a post without sending notifications.

This is useful when the update should appear in the feed but does not need to interrupt employees.

Examples:

A casual team photo
A non-urgent reminder
A weekly recap
An update that is useful but not time-sensitive
A post published outside working hours

Silent posts help keep communication respectful and avoid notification overload.

Notifications: email and mobile push

Pebb gives teams control over notifications.

Posts and important updates can be sent through:

Mobile notifications
Email notifications

This gives managers control over how employees are alerted.

For example:

A normal update might appear only in the feed.

An important safety post can be sent with a mobile push notification.

A company-wide policy update can be sent by email and mobile notification.

A silent post can be published without sending a notification.

This matters because different updates need different levels of attention. Not every post should interrupt employees, but some posts must reach everyone quickly.

With Pebb, teams can choose how communication is delivered instead of relying on one channel for everything.

Reactions

Employees can react to posts and comments.

The feed shows a like icon and reaction counts.

In the screenshot, the post has reactions from multiple employees.

Reactions help employees respond quickly without writing a full comment.

Examples:

Thumbs up for “Got it”
Celebration for good news
Smile for friendly updates
Supportive reaction for team wins

Reactions are especially useful for mobile users who want to respond quickly during a shift.

Comments

Employees can comment on posts.

Comments turn posts into conversations.

For example, an employee can reply:

“This is great! Excited to get started with the team 🙌”

Comments are useful for:

Asking questions
Sharing updates
Confirming details
Giving feedback
Tagging teammates
Suggesting ideas
Following up after an announcement

Comment composer

At the bottom of a post, users can type a comment.

The comment box can include:

Text input
Image upload
GIF
Emoji
Send button

This allows employees to respond with text, media, or quick visual reactions.

Send button

The paper-plane icon sends the comment.

On mobile, employees can use the same flow to quickly reply while on the go.

Replies to comments

Employees can reply to comments.

This keeps conversations organized under the right message.

For example, if someone asks a question about a store reopening, the manager can reply directly under that comment instead of creating confusion in the main thread.

Comment reactions

Comments can also receive reactions.

In the screenshot, a comment has a thumbs-up reaction.

This lets employees respond to comments without adding more text.

Post menu

Each post has a three-dot menu.

This menu is usually used for actions such as editing, deleting, copying, or managing the post, depending on permissions.

Managers can use this to control content after it has been published.

Saved posts

The bookmark icon allows users to save a post.

Saved posts are useful when employees want to come back to something later.

Examples:

A policy update
A shift instruction
A training post
A checklist
A safety reminder
A useful link
A manager announcement

Post security or admin indicator

Some posts may show a small shield icon.

This can indicate that the post has protected, important, or admin-related behavior depending on the Space setup.

It helps show that the post has a special status or control attached to it.

Refresh and feed actions

At the top of the feed area, there are quick action icons such as:

Bookmark or saved view
Clock or scheduled content
Refresh

These help users manage what they are viewing and keep the feed updated.

Mobile News Feed

The News Feed is fully available on the Pebb mobile app.

Employees can:

Read posts
Create posts
Upload photos
Watch videos
Attach files
Vote in polls
Acknowledge important posts
React to posts
Comment and reply
Receive mobile notifications
Open updates from email notifications
Save posts for later

This is especially important for frontline employees who do not sit in front of a computer.

A restaurant server can check an update before a shift.

A hotel housekeeper can acknowledge a new policy from their phone.

A construction worker can read a safety post on-site.

A retail employee can comment on a store update during a break.

Common use cases

Retail stores

Retail teams can use the News Feed for daily store updates, promotions, staffing announcements, and visual merchandising instructions.

Example:

“Quick update about our NY store — it may reopen as soon as next week, and we’re looking for new employees to join the team. If you know someone who might be a good fit, please comment here.”

The manager can attach a photo, send it with a mobile notification, and ask employees to comment with referrals.

Restaurants

Restaurants can use the News Feed for menu updates, shift reminders, cleaning instructions, food safety updates, and team polls.

Example:

A manager posts:

“New dinner menu starts tonight. Please review the attached PDF before your shift.”

The post can be marked as important so servers and kitchen staff acknowledge that they read it.

Hotels

Hotels can use the News Feed for daily briefings, VIP guest updates, room preparation reminders, maintenance notices, and department communication.

Example:

A front desk manager posts:

“Important: new check-in flow starts tomorrow. Please acknowledge after reading.”

Team members click Acknowledge, so the manager knows who saw it.

Construction companies

Construction teams can use the News Feed for job site updates, safety reminders, schedule changes, equipment notices, and weather-related announcements.

Example:

A site supervisor posts:

“Safety reminder: hard hats and reflective vests are required at Site B starting tomorrow.”

The post is marked important and sent as a mobile notification.

Warehouses

Warehouses can use the News Feed for loading updates, inventory reminders, safety instructions, and shift handoff notes.

Example:

“Inventory count starts at 3 PM today. Please check your assigned zone before starting.”

Employees can comment with questions or acknowledge the instruction.

Office teams

Office teams can use the News Feed for company announcements, employee recognition, event planning, and team updates.

Example:

A manager creates a poll asking:

“What should our next team activity be?”

Employees vote for team lunch, bowling night, escape room, or outdoor hike.

Best practices for using the News Feed

Create a separate Space feed for each branch, department, or location when updates should be targeted.

Use the Everyone Space for company-wide announcements.

Mark posts as important only when employees truly need to confirm they read them.

Use acknowledgements for safety, policy, HR, and operational updates.

Use silent posts for casual or non-urgent updates.

Use polls when you want quick feedback from employees.

Use images and videos when a visual explanation is easier than text.

Use email and mobile notifications for updates that need stronger visibility.

Avoid sending notifications for every post, so employees do not ignore important alerts.

Encourage employees to comment and react so the feed feels active, not one-way.

Use scheduled posts for recurring updates or announcements that should go out at the right time.

Save posts that include instructions, links, or information employees may need later.

Why teams use the News Feed in Pebb

The News Feed gives teams a simple, familiar way to share updates and keep everyone connected.

Managers can post announcements, attach media, create polls, require acknowledgements, schedule posts, send notifications, and control whether a post is silent or urgent.

Employees can read updates, react, comment, reply, vote, acknowledge important posts, and stay connected from web or mobile.

Because the News Feed lives inside Spaces, every branch, department, team, or location can have its own communication area. This keeps updates focused and relevant while still allowing company-wide communication through an Everyone Space.

For frontline and office teams, Pebb’s News Feed helps replace scattered messages with one clear place for company communication.
